  I think a better argument to a JW is showing them the WT and KM where the end is implied. You can also say that under their logic Jehovah had no right to punish anyone in the bible whose guilt was implied. I can't think of an example offhand but I am 100% sure there are quite a few examples.

  im 19 and im still going to meetings.ive been sort of unhappy for a while.my older sister left the truth about 9 or 10 years ago.my brother was on her heels a couple of years later.ive been told that they were weak,selfish,posessed and drug addicts.i knew this wasnt true,they were both brilliant and caring of me.i havent spoken to them in at least 3 years.alot of gossip still circulates about them,especially sarah.she intimidated everybody and i suppose this is how they feel superior.. im rambling,sorry.im just overwhelmed.i ran into sarah at a walmart and she was radiant.i chatted her ear off for an hour and she hugged me when i cried.i told her i wanted out,that i know something isnt right but i m so scared.she suggested some of teh online groups to help.i guess she went to thomschat but thats not there anymore.she said my struggle would be different than hers because she never believed in the witnesses.i did.any advice or books to read or whatever you suggest,i just want to learn.she said crisis of conscience would probably help.okay thanks..

  Welcome Fire, I think everyone will agree that they have gone through the same thing you are going through. If you read Crisis of Conscious by Raymond Franz it will change your viewpoint for sure. That is the one book I think most will strongly suggest you read. Also you might want to look in to local meetup's of ex witnesses in your area, it can be risky but finding good warm hearted individuals just to speak to in real life can be quite comforting. Hope you can find what your looking for.

  I would think the Library of Congress has a good deal of WT stuff that we probably didn't know existed. I am on a music forum and that is always a wonderful source of info.

  i notice from comments posted that many here who post (and untold scores who lurk) are still "in".

  perhaps their social / family circles are too constricted for freedom of mind, and or, they are too afraid to rock the boat.

  or too young to strike out on their own and are dependent on jw parents for support.

  The only problem is that what is to stop someone from using "spiritual warfare" to claim they also are still in only for use of spying. Not that it would happen but there is a chance.

  Anyone got their meeting cancelled for snow or ice?

  with the big snowstorm this past weekend, did anyone get their boasting session cancelled?

  or, were they foolhardy and so stupid that, even though there was 4 feet of snow and/or the power lines were down, they decided to hold the damn thing anyway?.

  In NC almost every time it snows over 1 inch the meetings get canceled. I was actually at an assembly that got canceled mid way through. We ended up getting like 6 inches of snow in a day, it was pretty fun of course.

  I'm going to add my two cents. First of all if anyone is to blame for the poor media it's ourselves. If we didn't watch because of the entertainment the ceo's would make it more newsy. Also most news org's (tv) get there news from the a.p. who gets there news from local newspapers newspapers are facing cutbacks and shortages because instead of making 8 million in profit they now only make 6 million in profit. Greed causes all of this, because the newspapers can't cover all the news they have to go for what sells. That is the problem. Got to fix the foundation.
